Its a ........

As everyone who has talked to us since the pregnancy began, knows we both believed we were having a boy. Mainly, because of the dreams I had about a baby boy. Look, I’m usually right about stuff, usually everything, but I have been wrong twice in my life. (Spoiler alert!) First, I believed in Santa Clause and also thought he was black. Turns out I was wrong on both accounts. Secondly, I told my mom when I was eight that I would never leave her. I moved out at 20 (sorry mom) and lastly I told everyone that we are having a boy, it turns out it’s a girl. Yes a baby girl.

Angel and I had our appointment today and the following exchange happened:

Nurse: Do you want to know the sex?

Me & Angel: Yes!!!

Nurse: It’s a girl!

Me: Are you sure about that?

Nurse: Um yes its girl?

Me: I think you need to check that again. I had two dreams about this.

Nurse: Yes, it’s still a girl.

Me: I think you really need to check that again. I’m rarely wrong about anything, plus you’re going against my god given dreams if you tell me it’s a girl!

Awkward silence...

Just to be clear that last part of that exchange didn’t really happen. Angel and I are thrilled to be having a girl. This is a blessing beyond anything either one of us could have conceived. My mom told me laid back guys have girls so I guess I was destined for this. It’s also good because we can spoil her. It’s safe to say we are both extremely ecstatic. At least until she starts trying to date. Angel says only then will I become a republican, I say fat chance. As for the name, you ask. It’s CIA information. A SECRET for everyone except immediate family, especially one who can’t stop herself from posting stuff on facebook. We’ll let you know at a later date (hey, I have to keep some dramatic anticipation for the blog). Until then, you’ll find Angel at Target or baby Gap looking for baby clothes and me in the weight room doing P90X getting ready for my daughters teenage years.

The big annoucement

Today is the big day, we’ll find out the gender of our baby today at 1pm eastern time. There is still some time to vote on our poll, which didn’t work for the first 4 days I put it up. There should be an announcement in this space soon after, try not to break your refresh button in all the anticipation. Like I said we both think it’s a boy mainly because we don’t ever want to have to go see a Hannah Montana concert. Below is breakdown of today’s match up

Boy

Clothing Style : Shorts, suits, basketball jersery
Toys : Cars, Trucks, Mud
Biggest Concern : That he'll be as messy as I was
Biggest Benefit : I won't have to learn how to do his hair
I better get ready for : wrestling, rough play, and pretending I'm bob the builder

Girl

Clothing Style : Dress and whatever else girls wear
Toys : Dolls, Babies,
Biggest Concern : That one day I'll go to jail for beating up some 15 year old boy
Biggest Benefit : Angel will have a shopping partner
I better get ready for : tea parties, getting my nails done

Since we’ve been back in Indiana we’re trying to get into back into the swing of things. We had a wonderful time in the CA and were glad to see friends and family. Now we are back in the Eastern Time zone and it’s rough. Just went you get we get use to Pacific Time it’s time to leave. I got up to go to work at 3:30am west coast time. Thank God for a short weekend. Other than that the Elzy Compound has been quiet.

The Lastest development on the ever complicating blog layout is a brand new poll. On July 27th, we will find out the sex of the baby. For anyone who doesn't know we are pretty sure it's a boy. Actually I said it’s a boy and everyone else believes me. The reason is because I had two God-given dreams that Angel was pregnant before she knew she was pregnant. Don’t start calling me Joseph or anything because I rarely dream, unless I fall asleep with the TV on and those dreams are about whatever is on at the time. I had the first dream about two weeks before we found out. In this dream I was standing in an all white room, with Angel who was holding a baby boy. Not just any baby one who looks exactly like me. And no he didn’t look like this:

Not a baby with my adult face, a baby with my features and curly hair. It was a very short but vivid dream. I woke up and tried to play it off like it was no big deal. I decided it was best to keep that one to myself for a while. I told her a week later; when I started to think she wasn't pregnant.

A few days after I told her about the first dream, we took a trip to Washington DC. Our first night there I had another dream. This time I'm driving by myself, I don’t remember what kind of car but I’m pretty sure it was Bentley or something comparable. This time it was just me and the baby. I was driving he was in the car seat. (Understand that I don’t even know how to put in a car seat, I’ve never had one in my car; never put a child in one, and may have only touched one two or three times in my life). It was the same baby boy that was in my first dream and we were apparently going to the mall. This time I woke up freaking out a little. Suddenly, that next day on the trip, Angel is was sick, cramping, and tired. She was basically, exhibiting every pregnancy sign in the book. According to her she wasn’t pregnant. I waited a day and as the behavior continued I made her take a test. That night she took a test and it was negative. The next two days of the trip she was still exhibiting the same signs she decided to take the second test and it was positive. So since the dream was right about her being pregnant I'm going to keep rolling with it and say it’s going to be a boy.

Most of the family who knows about the dream has referred the future MVP as a boy, he already has boy outfits, and I've already signed him up for Park and Rec Basketball next spring. So there has been some marginal investment into him being a male. The poll is on the right to vote for what you think the gender is. If you vote for a boy your showing belief in me and the support my wife has in me, if you vote girl , you are voting for my failure (Seriously if we have a girl I wouldn’t care, they have girl sports also). Please vote and on July 28th, we will announce the sex on this website. This is the most anticipated announcement since LeBron James. Take care

California Update

We’ve been in California for 7 days now with only a few more days left we have been reminded of a couple things. The desert in July is very hot, and not fun thus my wife has to drink more water then gets up to use the bathroom all hours of the night. No bed is big enough for the two no three of us.

The baby has been moving a lot according to his mom. It appears he’s a late raiser often not moving until 10-11am and has been very active at night. I know this may sound crazy, but I think it’s time to start an 8pm bedtime. It’s never too early to start discipline.

Eating is the name of the game when there is a pregnancy involved. They say that people end up liking what your mom ate a lot of while they were in the womb. So the future MVP will like fruit, chocolate milk, chips, and pancakes. There has also been a lot of Starbucks purchases especially since we’ve be in Cali. I wouldn’t call Angel addicted but at this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if the future MVP didn’t come out of the womb asking for a grande milk with ice and an extra pump of cinnamon. Anyway, we are currently enjoying our trip. Still have some days left so hopefully we’ll see you guys. Finally, if you want to get blessed with my Mark Twain like story telling ability displayed here and you and don’t have a Facebook you need to sign up Elzy Fam updates. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will find where you can sign up for our newsletter. Take care

Going back to California

Today, it was time for the long awaited trip back home to California. Angel packed her bags roughly three weeks ago in anticipation of the trip. It’s been six months since our presence has graced the borders of the Golden State. Probably the first time we've ever complained about leaving Indiana weather to go to California weather (more specifically high desert heat). We are definitely glad to deal with a little heat to see family. Today will also be the first time junior Elzy (the future noble peace prize winner) will visit the state and see his future home. Fortunately for him he doesn't have to bear 110 degree heat. Unfortunately for me I do. And even less fortunate for Angel she has to deal with it while being pregnant.

Other than that we are excited to be home. I brought a whole suitcase of cold wet cloths to help Angel and baby Elzy deal with the heat. On a side note, the Elzy Fam Blog now has seven fans, that's a seven hundred percent increase from the first entry. At this pace by the end of July we’ll have over sixteen thousand fans and I'll be able to start selling advertisements. Anyway we'll be in the High Desert from July 3rd to the July 13. Hope to see you then.
